    Perhaps the person who initially told you they could do it was not one of the expert silversmiths who work there? In any case, they would be better advised to be more cautious when making promises to customers. -- I hadn't seen this thread earlier. I like the elephant as is, anyway. :) And you mentioned that you do, too.
