I have seen one of these with a deer instead of a cow selling with bids in the $60.00 range sometime in recent history. I was searching Black Forest stuff and was shocked it was doing so well. As far as the sickness, I too am afflicted although I do not have a plastic Holstein on my wall, yet.:joyful:

The bells have nothing to do with the Frisian/Holstein-ish cow's head. The head is one item, the bells another one.
Alpine cows have one bell, as do cows in some other parts of Europe, Asia, Africa, where herds can be spread out over a vast area with difficult accessibility.
Swiss cow bells are very big and can weigh as much as 5 kilos. There are now animal activists trying to ban the alpine cow bells, because of the weight and the noise so close to the cow's ears. Lightweight collars with gps-tracking are an animal-friendly solution.
The three bells together are probably a souvenir seller's invention.

    Hi,
When I was growing up we had a cow who hated the bell around her neck. She would keep dipping her bell into the mud until it was covered and stopped ringing.

I was high up in the mountains of Switzerland between Montreux and the Thunersee early one morning. It was foggy in the valleys, just beautiful so I pulled off and stopped.
Dead quiet, no other cars and all I could hear were the cowbells far away down in the valleys but unmistakable. I'll never forget it and would hate to see/hear that stop. :(
    Maybe smaller ones?

Beautiful King, I know the area and can picture it.
Or maybe loudspeakers with cowbell sounds in choice locations?:)

When I was a child we spent several holidays in Kandersteg, near Bern. I always insisted we go to Thun, and we'd have lunch or dinner in one of the lakeside restaurants. Later I spent an evening there en route to Italy, it brought back sweet memories.
