Green Beads

    IMG_0869.JPG IMG_0870.JPG IMG_0871.JPG IMG_0872.JPG IMG_0873.JPG IMG_0874.JPG Obviously something cheap and recent with this clasp and cord but can't tell if they are glass or dyed jade or other stone!

    My first thought was that they were this sort of thing: Peking glass beads

    But they look very ragged around the drill holes, so stone seems possible. A number of less expensive materials, such as agate, can be dyed to look jade green. Another Joolie will sort this out.

    My guess would be dyed onyx, but there are many other possibilities, depending on what stone was cheap and readily available in the area they came from.

    Looking at the way the clasp is attached, taken with the lack of knots or spacer beads, pretty sure this is home craftsperson work, not commercially made.

    I'd have said the exact opposite. It's what I call RDR - random dyed rock. Pretty, but not worth worrying about, and suitable for ripping apart for other projects.
