Featured 18ct gold - are they earrings?

Hello

I think these are earrings and they just twist in the ear and hold in place but I'm not sure, I haven't seen anything like them before.

They were in the same box as some 750 butterfly backs but they don't fit on, and there's no dent on the stem that would hold them in place.

I think the cabochons are garnets but have not tested. Both have a 750 mark. Measure 2.5cm x 2cm and weigh 4.72g total.

They're spiral earrings - probably threaders, intended to go through a double piercing (looks like they'd fit mine well), but some are meant for the end of the post to just meet the ear in front to suggest a double piercing...

Looking at all the spirals, these may be intended for cartilage piercings, with the lower spirals tucking in to the ear, hugging the side of the ear - will take a quick look to see if I can find something similar...

edit: or maybe they go in the lobes and climb the ear - usually pretty good at visuals, but having a hard time without handling these...
