A little late to the party, but CONGRATULATIONS on "flying up"* to moderator status! Happy to have you watching over us. * brownie/girl scout reference
Quirky, do you have first hand Brownie/Girl Scout experience??? (I was a Brownie/Junior/Cadette leader for some 15 years, back in the day!)
I do! As a Brownie Scout (which I LOVED!) ... then attended the ceremony to fly up to be whatever level was next (not sure it was full-fledged GS or not), and realized the troop that I would be a part of had several mean, cliquey girls in it - one of them actually asked to see my handed-down GS penknife during the ceremony and refused to give it back . Sadly, that flying-up gig was my last day as a scout. I'm sure there were many other troops that had had nice, well-mannered girls though.
I guess I am with @cxgirl. I was totally clueless. Congrats to @i need help!!! You are a perfect choice for the moderator job.
Quirky. So like my experience. In my fly-up time, I was selected by the leaders to be in a dancing line in a moulin rouge type routine for a celebration. My mother made me a red skirt, several layers of underskirts, and a top. I practiced and practiced. (I am very uncoordinated, and it took me 40 years to master telling my left from my right.) After the dress rehearsal, I was pulled aside and told that I was not going to be in the dance line and I should get a pair of black pants, hat, etc. and I could stand in the back with the other "boy" dancers. I was so embarrassed. I cried and cried. I never went back. Kiko
Oh Kiko, that is so sad. I would have been upset as well. I am not that great at learning dance moves either. When I was in high school we had something called Sing. I was in the chorus and we all had to wear white gloves so that when they turned out all the lights, that is all that would be seen on stage. And they showed us the hand movements we were supposed to learn. I never got the hang of them properly not to mention I have stage fright and public speaking to me is a horror, so I froze. I wanted to crawl into a hole.
What an awful experience! I can feel your distress through your words. I wish I could reach out and comfort that little girl.
SO WONDERFUL, INH!!!! WELL DESERVED!!!! Wait........I already thought you WERE a MOD..........and WHY is MOST of this thread from 12/3/2020????????????????
