Looks like it would hold quite a bit of pot.

Gebr. is the German abbreviation for Gebruder - "Brothers" in English. (In case you didn't know.)

    P
I didn't know that, so thank you very much, the only other language I speak is French. I had a Google but could only find "Ger" being the equivalent to "nee", as used before a maiden name, in English.

Then the other thing you should know is that Koln a/Rh. stands for the city we in the US call Cologne "on the Rhine" (unfortunately I do not know the code for typing the o with the 2 dots above.)

Yes. I knew this thank you, I have asked the museum in Koln if they have any history of a shop or furniture makers, but so far I have heard nothing, Imthink they may be closed because of flood damage, I was hoping someone would reply to their emails at some point.
I inherited this from a French Lady who married an English Sailor, but they lived in England, she was born in 1912. It's a very well made, solid little cupboard, I would just like to know more about it, she must have travelled with it, possibly.

Definitely oak. I think a teens-20s secessionist piece.

    Hi Bakersgma,
You can use the code 0214 for the Ö.

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

Looks like an already decorated Christmas cupboard without the paint! I like it!!!!

A very seasonal observation there, never quite thought of it in that way, but you're right

This one would look nice next to my german late 19th century steel bed with similar decorations. :)
