    dear all

would like to know more about these screw-type earrings. i read somewhere that they were old, late 1800s early 1900s. there is no mark on the gold, so no idea about quality :D

    regards

Love them, beautiful detail. Yes they are antique, 1890s.
The style is typical of the period, those high collar dresses and shirts didn't go with long dangle earrings. The screw mechanism is also of the period.
Is there a piece of thread around one of the fluted decorations?

I wonder if someone at some time simply tied the earrings together, to keep from losing one. (Either that, or there was once a price tag tied on.)

Call me old fashioned, but I prefer the 1800 earwires. The only ones where earrings or parts don't disappear, and you don't have to torture yourself, like with the back to front 1900 example.

I like the other kind.:hilarious::hilarious::hilarious: As for earrings, I have no holes at all so I tend to buy screwbacks. I've always known #8 as a Monet clip, from the company that's still using it. As clips go they're comfortable.
