Can't believe I'm about to do this, but since moreotherstuff was brave enough (awesome fic bytheway!) I'll do it too...

Here is one of far too many fanfics I wrote.

Please be kind. I was 21 when I wrote this, and English isn't my first language...

On the opposite side of the spectrum. Here are some depressing poems I wrote (also many moons ago)

This one about an unnamed girl in Zimbabwe:

    Silent War

Where can I go, what can I do,
My home is gone, my parents too.
    What did the government say,
    Oh yes it's a cleanup process….
I guess you can call it that
    If there's nothing left,
    It must be clean….

What about me, a nine year old child,
Living in a country of delusion,
    Our neighbours are ignorant,
The world's in a state of panic,
No one has asked me what I think,
    Of my parents dying,

My friends leaving for greener pastures
No one has asked me, and they never will

    I'm just a statistic
    Another child left homeless, parentless
All because of our dear government
Who think that they can destroy our spirits
    By destroying our lives
    Well in that…..

    They have succeeded

And this one, a bit harder to describe, bit more abstract but still political in nature:

    Colours of a Nation

    Scarlet rivers cross our past
    Empty promises stretch ahead
Cutaneous colours the answer to all
    questions
    Ebony, Ivory
    Perfect Harmony?
    Hope
    Trust
    Faith
    Strive
    Corrupt Leaders
    What of their nation?
    Death
    Scarlet lines the past
    Hope, colourless, if any
    Ahead
    Strive, Strife
    Colourful scarlet
    Faith
    Hope
    Trust
    Only if colourless
    Green leaves
    Blue wind
    Purple cities
    Strive and strife
    Hope and fear
    Scarlet for naught

    Ons vir jou Suid Afrika

Very good story Snipsa. 69 reviews on that one and 26 stories published - all well reviewed. People actually read you! I'm green with envy.

Bev, Love the colored pencil. I was just starting to work in colored pencil when real life got in the way. I haven't done anything for quite some time. I feel the same way you do about the water color. I have three that I did just around the same time as this colored pencil drawing of my garden basket. Oil is much more forgiving.

Shiloh, those egg ornaments are great. Were they expensive? Do you still do them?

There are some very talented writers here. I haven't finished reading everything but I'm working on it;.

I already know not to try writing poetry; everything comes out sounding like bad Country song lyrics... and I don't "do" country. OTOH ... here's two quilts I finished recently. The tops were made a while back, but the backs weren't on.

Hand painted flowers. The pattern is mine. The rug isn't part of the quilt.
Jigsaw puzzle quilt - all loose pieces jigsawed together. Flannel on the front, and some fuzzy synthetic on the back.

I love quilts Everly.I started a hex patch quilt back in the 70's using blocks from my family's clothes. It still is packed away in a plastic bag unfinished. :p

Gorgeous. I think colored pencil is forgiving - the almighty electric eraser solves many problems!

Shiloh - I've found quilts like that in many an estate sale. Get that puppy out and finish it so your kids can fight over it.

Thanks. I painted the flower squares. It's on its way to Minnesota as we speak, if it hasn't already arrived. The folks who got it are at a medical mission in Nigeria.

    Everybody is so talented!
This is me on the mandolin, my wife Mimi on the autoharp, with a band called "Constellation's Crew" featuring Hank Cramer among others. Playing on the dock at Aberdeen, Washington.

And on octave mandolin, at the Tumbleweed Festival in Richland.

image.jpg This is a painting that I've been wanting to do for a while now. I've had a small sample on my fridge that I drew months ago. It's titled "Addiction". I thought about making the colors solid but this style is growing on me.

As ya'all can tell, I love birds ;) I painted these in the 80s I think,I then glued the wood plaques onto a board and framed them. My stupid camera made the detail faint,I tried and tried but these are the best pics I could take.
