image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg I got these too while I was in Oklahoma. It's a necklace and a bracelet. I can tell that these aren't cheaply made. The stones, I can't describe, they're beautiful!! These pieces are very heavy. Some of the pieces appear to have a rainbow color effect on the them when looking at an angle. About how old may these be and possible maker? Any suggestions is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

They are nice art glass beads. Bubbles are the easiest giveaway. Probably not Italian, but I more strongly feel it may be a product of the glass marble manufacturers in W. Virginia. If you research the marbles, you may find some of the color combinations to give you the exact maker of the beads. I am very color-blind, so that's as far as I can go. Hope it helps! :)

Look to me like mid 20th century glass nugget beads, probably German...

The hardware definitely dates to about that point. The beads could be contemporary or a little later. If the piece was assembled in the US, they sometimes mixed things up. The construction definitely isn't Japanese; they didn't use those brass spacers as far as I know.

Though I've never seen any beads quite like yours, that rainbow-y sheen reminds of what you see on dichroic glass beads.

I was thinking the same thing about the hardware.

Chain-strung beads are usually original, unlikely to be restrung on chain, the findings are typical mid 20th century, as are the beads, while the beads and/or findings may have been made elsewhere, they are very typical of 1950s-60s German. They may be called nugget, pebble or baroque, and yours might be found described as 'givre' or 'porphyr(y)', but that would be debatable, 'givre' should be a transparent or translucent glass with an interior streak of opaque (usually white) and 'porphyr' should have streaks or stripes of transparent and opaque. My eyesight is pretty poor anymore and I'm not really seeing the iridescence, but they may have been coated or it may just be a property of the glass (they're not dichroic beads).

Here are some new/old stock beads in a similar shape (may have to get some of these - yummy colors): https://www.etsy.com/listing/176967051/25-stunning-vintage-germany-us-zone-ruby?ref=shop_home_active_2&ga_search_query=germany+beads

A triple-strand choker in a more varied but similar color scheme: http://www.ebay.com/itm/371126356387?ru=http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_sacat=0&_nkw=371126356387&_rdc=1

Cheryl, great description and totally on the mark.

Also that Etsy site is great! I just looked at all the new/old stock beads, all 28 pages--wow, I might have to get some, too.

Thanks everyone for your help. They are lovely beads. If I remember correctly, these came from my grandmother, who was German.
