Hello, I am looking for a little information about this thrift store find I was fortunate to make about a year ago. The weight is nearly 1000g it is 10 inches in diameter and by Theodore B. Starr. I really know nothing else about it. Can you help? Thank you!

Thank you kindly for that information. So you believe it was imported to Harrods in London in 1962? Or was it crafted in 1962? Please excuse my ignorance with this, I am not too great with this kind of thing haha.

There are some on the boards that can give you much more detailed info than I can so I'm sure they'll be along.

    Forgot to say Welcome!

The 1962 date is when the (lovely!) bowl was presented for assay under the Harrod's sponsorship. It is not an indication of manufacture or import date per se.

Starr was only in business (in NY) independently until 1924, succeeded by Reed & Barton. I do not know for sure whether R&B continued use of the Starr marks, but I doubt it. Interesting that the bowl does not have the "sterling" impression that would normally have been applied when it was made (in the US) - or did you just not show it?

@DragonflyWink may have more details about the subject.

You have a lovely repousse and reticulated fruit bowl.
I agree with Bakersgma that the "sterling" impression should be on the piece if made in the USA.
Agree that RWB is for Richard Woodman Burbidge, managing director/chairman of Harrods who died in 1945.
