It's being sold as antique and hand-beaded and has some damage (photo). It's all of $50 Australian. It's an hour away, but there's such a heatwave Downunder this weekend that a drive with the air-conditioning cranked up mightn't be a bad idea. Or has my brain fried already and it's best left alone? Opinions welcome. 128046078_1335126390152370_4154539489858303448_o.jpg 127227732_1335126423485700_1296568212655646925_o.jpg 127232429_1335126396819036_427392319230420850_o.jpg

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

I’d think twice, unless you’re prepared for some significant beading repair....(at least to me, that’s what I see!).....

I can stitch and darn with a massive, under-used collection of tapestry and embroidery thread. I think the beading is pretty snazzy, but ... The chair = 30 euros or $US36. Too much?

Tomorrow will be even hotter, like 40+, and that's at the coast!

Thanks @Fid and @Aquitaine. I'm going to ask, though: English? Indian? Australian? 1920-30-40s? Is the whole thing tapestry? Bought from a catalogue? Earlier? I love the colours and am always delighted by casters. Not so fussed on damage, but any info appreciated. Thanks.

English, latre 19th, original beading too. If you can fix it yourself, it's a bit of a bargain. These were done by ladies of leisure.

If the legs are as short as they look in the pic it is probably a nursing chair.

Thanks, @Ownedbybear ... just been Google Imaging 1890s nursing chair and think it may be worth the drive. It's a pretty shape, and we are used to "damaged" in this house :) It will be a darned chair, if I get it.

I can't stand over restored, so I suspect your work will end up looking just right.

That's lovely. Beading in really good condition for its age and such an impactful scale. Deserves a loving home.
