    Beautiful, Holly. I love tourmaline.
I was the one who mentioned tourmaline, in reference to a ring I had resized.
Below is the ring, very dear to me. The tourmaline is a very dark green one, bought for me by my father while on a business trip to Brazil. I was seven or eight at the time, and already had the bling bug (genetic:)).
My parents had the stone set in a Modernist/Brutalist (style of the period) gold ring by a goldsmith friend.

In New England, we have lots of black tourmalines I'll see if I can get a photo of one of mine later. :)

We have lots of specimen grade garnet too. They're no good for jewelry, but people do collect them. I don't happen to have any.

The most abundant type of tourmaline, also called schorl. Some tourmaline that looks black is really very dark green, if you get enough light behind it.

:kiss::kiss::kiss::kiss::kiss::kiss::kiss::kiss::kiss: (since there's no drool emoji that I can find.) If it were me I might even leave a few of them as found and set them in a really modern setting. That rootbeer colored one in the lower left is a prime candidate. The dragon in me wants to drill all of them as is and make one HECKUVA gold and tourmaline necklace out of them.
