If anyone can help me identity if this is an advance copy or pre-first edition printing. It is A tree grows in Brooklyn by Betty Smith on copyright page there is no paragraph regulations due to wartime printing (as should be if we're a first edition) see attached pics. If it is an advance copy, any idea of value? Thank you for any info.

    Hi,
The sidewalk clock that is mentioned in the book was moved. It is now in front of a jewelry store in Plainfield NJ. I last saw it 6 years ago. No one has any idea of it's history. I only remember reading about it in the newspaper many years ago when it was moved.

They talked about this on an antiques roadshow. I **think** they said these were sent out to publishers to gauge interest . If I remember correctly, they werent as valuable as 1st editions. But being such an iconic book may put a different spin on it.

Now don't go getting all excited when you go to the link below....prices are for First Editions!!! I didn't find any way to input text for PRE-First Editions!!! BUT, maybe YOU can find a way to contact EACH to get more specific with them about YOUR copy!!! BEST of LUCK with your search!!!!

I assume what you believe you have is called an "advance copy." There is no way of verifying from your photographs if that is indeed the case. I suggest you post larger, well-lite photographs of the pages you have included along with one of the cover.

I wish my book was that easy to verify. That item on eBay is a marked first edition with proper DS code. My book has no edition or code. But again thank you for your time.

Fed po site with first edition info is an awesome site, I found it early on in my attempts to verify book. First editions are marked and have DS code. My book has none of that. Thank you for your time
