Featured 1953 Queen Elizabeth Coronation Programme 2'6 or 5'

    Most of the programs I see sold were available for 2'6 but this copy was sold for 5'
    Was this an "upgraded" version? I know they are not worth much money but would be interesting to find out if there were different versions.

    Yup, multiple versions. One difference, I think, is that yours is corded and larger.

    Very nice programme vitry, nice pictures too, 5 shillings up from 2 and sixpence .. but one got a really nice keepsake !! :) .. Joy.

    The booklet concerns a needlework (gros point) carpet of 12 panels and border, all the needlework done by hand by Queen Mary (wife of King George VI and grandmother of the present Queen). The panels were started in 1941 and the work continued through the war years to completion in 1946. The carpet was completed in 1950 and given to the British nation to sell as a fundraiser. The IODE (Imperial Order Daughters of the Empire) purchased it and toured it across Canada raising more than $100,000 for the British exchequer. At the end of the tour it was donated to Canada’s National Gallery where it still resides. I have the booklet, a smaller pamphlet (probably a free hand-out at a tour venue), and a postcard.
