    Looks like the stones are glued in and not actually bead set.

    Yes they are glued in.The beads don't secure the stones.
    This is one for the costume joolies.

    Yes, that's why I think this is one for the costume joolies. I don't know the first thing about this kind of jewellery. Well, maybe the first, but nothing more than that.;)
