Newly married in 1972 and our first car together was an AMC Gremlin. I LOVED that little car and boy could she fly if you wanted her to.

One evening, out of no where, 3 deer charged into the road, one went in front of us, one turned back and the third one leaped into the air. DH goosed the Gremlin and that darn deer landed behind us by a smidgen. :woot:

I rented a Pacer a couple of years later, thought they were really cool ...and yes those Gremlins could GO alright!

I wondered whether anyone would remember the Pacer.

I also owned a Gremlin. Mine was the X model with a 304 V8, positraction, and 4 speed Hurst transmission. It was a fast rust bucket. Bought it very used for $75.00 and drove it 3 years. Still running well when I sold it for $50.00 and some tools .... LOL!

The Pacer aka "goldfish bowl", yep, a real eye-catcher to say the least ....a few years later I saw a Honda Accord and thought "wow, they copied the front end of a Pacer" ...just the front though, so far no-one has copied the best part, the back ...

After our Gremlin went thru 3 transmissions (we beat that car up something awful - lol), we bought a Pacer for $50. Worst $50 we ever spent - took that car about 2 minutes to reach 60mph. Dumped it quick.

Ours was a standard tranny, equipped with an 8-track. One hot day I was cruisin' along, windows wide open, music blaring, glanced down to see I was going over 90mph - oops. But I felt like I had the world by the tail. :singing:

    Hi,
I remember back when a radio station was having a drawing for a new Gremlin that had blue jean material as seat covers. They had all kinds of puzzles to solve to win. I was on the phone next in line when the person in front of me won.:oops::oops::oops::oops::oops::oops::oops::oops:

    That's a bummer Greg. :(

Years later I bought a Plymouth TC3, another snappy little car with a standard tranny. I miss those days.

Now I putter around in a Ford Freestyle with a continuously variable transmission (CVT) which I actually like a lot but no head-rush from windin' 'er up.
