I found this pin in a storage I bought. The storage was a WW2 or WW1 vet.I suppose he passed, the storage has been there for years, until it came up for auction. This is a PSI Frat pin with pearls that look almost light blue,4 emerald stones on the 4 corners.I tested it on my black gold stone, tested al the way to 22k.The back has J.G PSI 174.Anyone know what the letters and number 174 means. Guessing PSI is the Greek letter & indicates the chapter of the fraternity/sorority owner belonged to. Looks like a woman's pin. Maybe wife's?

Men's, founded 1910 at Columbia. Lots of notable members since then. There's a place to click for finding chapters.

Maybe they gave members numbers. Is it in the same typeface like it was engraved at the same time? Or stamped in like a maker's mark?

The JC initials are most likely the initials of the member to whom the pin was originally given.

Tau Epsilon Phi. A Jewish fraternity. Psi Chapter was located at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and was founded in 1924. Perhaps he was the chapter's 174th pledge. And, yes, J.G. would have been the member's initials.

Psi was the fraternity's 23rd chapter so, yes, more likely his pledge number.
