Featured Table lamp... who, what, when...?

    Acquired this lamp and can find no story. Anyone know anything?
    Older hardware/electronics. Wool pad on bottom of base.
    Doesn't seem to be teak or brass. No shade.

    I plan on testing to see if it works this weekend.
    Hope I don't get a new hairdo! :D
    I may wish to sell it at some point...
