    Hi,

I bought these two pieces thinking they were old(er) but I can't find anything about the artist online. They are signed by Jacqueline Pickard Victoria BC. I found a little piece of paper rolled up inside the small vase from the maker which I thought would help identify them, but there is nothing online (other than Pickard china which was made in the US). Do they look familiar? Do you think they have value or are just dollar-store junque? Thanks!

It's a bit much to believe that there would be another person named Pickard who was in the business of painting porcelain & not related to the American Pickard family in the same business, so wondering if Jacqueline not a renegade who left Chicago for Vancouver. The piece is not marked in the manner of the US company:

Not a good sign for collector appeal that she seems to have no Internet presence.

Yes, perhaps the name is just a strange coincidence. Anyway, I have googled every way possible for a Pickard in Victoria BC and haven't found a thing. Jacqueline must have passed away a long time ago, long before the internet, and left no record of her works.

Even if Jacqueline is no longer with us, the pieces are so clearly marked that you would expect, even assuming most have not traveled through time with their little explanatory cards, a search using what is observable would still produce at least a piece or 2 of similar appearance for sale somewhere. Maybe she never produced that much work? A mystery.

The signatures look like hobbyist work, and the painting is not much to get excited about. Maybe she sold them in her shop.

Well, I live in Victoria and have lived here a long time and have never heard or seen of her or the items. Contrary to the printed card, they do have a hobbyist look too them. I dunno!

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

There is a profile for her on LinkedIn... which doesn't mean much because that site harvests people's professional information from all over, whether they are members or not:

    https://ca.linkedin.com/in/jackie-jackie-pickard-a6987043

I refuse to join LinkedIn because of that practice. Yet people regularly send me invitations to become their professional contacts there. Some of the people know me and some do not.

If she’s on LinkedIn then I guess she’s still around...

Somehow they found a listing for her somewhere. And I noticed they call her Jackie rather than Jacqueline. I haven't found anything relevant using "Jackie" as a search term. Found a person of that name in Australia, but not a porcelain painter.
