Hello everyone! My name is Heather my husband and I have always loved anything rusty and dusty. I now have the best job ever! I work at a antique and vintage market in Port Huron MI. It is called The Grand Trunk Marketplace. We opened in July and have been non stop busy ever since. I love anything old and historical. I love hearing the story behind things.
One of the new tasks I have been given is to try to sell/buy some of our more unique items. I have joined this group in hopes that I could have some people who could help me with that when I need as I am new to all this and would love to make friends in this business.
I have 2 boys 13 and 15 and they love history as much as we do.
Thanks so much for adding me I look forward to getting to know everyone.

Hello Hnybear.....welcome. Your work place has to be a lot of fun.....never boring.

(Your name reminds me of the family collie we had years ago. We called her Honeybear).

Hey, Honey, You're definitely in the right place - welcome.

Not in an old train station, by any chance? What sorts of items tend to turn up in Pt. Huron?

Well our store is in an old parts warehouse. But we are located right on the river in the heart of our downtown so we are surrounded by older buildings. Our area is very rich with history. We are located where Lake Huron meets the St.Clair river and have a Boarder to Canada. So we do have lots of shipping and train history. We have a vendor in our store that actually worked for the RR and just deals in Antique RR items. We do still have a working train depot that runs only to Chicago so that’s pretty cool.

Welcome! It would be cool to work for antique/vintage shop, however I'd be like a kid in a candy store and no doubt most of my earnings would end up right back into the shops coffers.

Seriously I'd love to learn about the operations and then later down the road leverage that knowledge to start up my own storefront or set up at flea markets/sell online.
