I think it is - but I would NOT use it for fabric.

    Hi KoT,
Spic and Span is still around here in NJ. I use it to scrub the cement patio. Concrete is 30 years old, outside but looks like it was poured last month.

If you can't get oxi-clean, drugstore peroxide will work. I found a recipe years ago that works great. I used a plastic tub filled with water and added 1 cup of peroxide with 1/2 cup of laundry detergent. Let it soak in the sun and check every half hour or hour to see if the stains are gone. Rinse out well and dry flat in the sun. I was amazed at how well this worked. For really dark stains, I used less water to make it more concentrated.

It also worked on the seat of one of my chairs when it was stained with tomato sauce. I made the mixture without water. I used a brush to brush on the mixture and I kept wiping it with a clean cloth and left it in the sun to dry.

But you shouldn't use bleach because these are made of natural color linen and they aren't supposed to be white.

We visited the Twenty Mule Team Museum in Boron, Calif. once. There's a tiny, dusty museum and there was a shriveled up elderly woman running it. After we looked at the stuffed mule and other things she said, "Don't forget to go downstairs." This was kind of creepy, but we went. There was an ultra-modern museum underground with a modern theater showing a film about all the uses of borax from the early days to uses in space exploration. Shocking. It was quite amazing.

    Wow!
I’ve been past there any number of times but never knew. :(
If I’m not mistaken the area was used to test spacecraft engines as well.

    Nice! :)
I wondered if it had managed to become politically incorrect. :p

Thanks! I knew Grandma used it but wasn’t certain about fabric.
