Are these two woven items Apache?

My pops thinks these could be Apache. The flat one is 6" diameter, the basket is 4 1/2" diameter. The color is much more faded than the photo shows. Thanks for taking a look!

Both look like Pima, or early Tohono-O'odham (Papago). As noted in the video, the most important distinguishing feature between these and baskets woven by the Apache is in the structure of the foundation of the coil. Pimas and Tohono-O'odham used bundles of grasses, split cattails or yucca. Apache basketmakers used stacks of 3 to 5 fine willow rods. From what I can see between the stitches on your baskets, they appear to have bundled fibers as the foundation. The designs are also typical of Pima work.

Don't Apache baskets have a gap in the pattern at the rim to allow the spirit of the basket to escape - or is that just antique dealer BS?
