My Savers, or the closest thing to "mine" has always been a "meh". Sometimes I find something worth the gasoline and sometimes not. I've never seen a piece of silver there worth what they were charging never mind a bargain.

Bakers already nailed it - German - Karl Sohnlein & Sohne. It's a Hanau or Hanau-ish mark.

    Great finds, all! :)

Wow, CX, that fireman's helmet is wonderful!

    Cool coin brooch, Van Poperin!

Anund, amazing vase!! Good luck with the labels.

DSCF5116.JPG DSCF5117.JPG The spoon is Gorham, from an estate sale in a bag of silverplate. The plate and teapot strainer are from this weekend; the strainer is Gorham too. The plate is .833 - Portuguese. The spoon was in a $35 bag, and the strainer and plate were a buck each at that fundraiser sale I went to this weekend. It'll all head to a local antique store soon before they lock us all down again.

    Some recent finds.

I've always admired vintage Sherwin-Williams Paints signage and decided I'd try to purchase one eventually. It was quite a bit more then I usually spend -- I am glad I got one with a bit of patina and honest wear so there is no doubt it is authentic. My fourth sign in my collection.

The remainder of the pieces were purchased for much more modest sums -- my pocketbook needed a breather after the sign.

Joe, I don't know if you were on the forum yet when I posted this photo before... My Mom worked for Sherwin Williams when she first graduated from college. She was their first "on the road female colorist", working the New England territory, giving talks and demonstrations to women's groups and the like.

This was my mother in 1949, about to go on the radio, "live" from a Sherwin Williams store (in, I believe, Manchester, CT):

Oh, she's lovely! Have you seen this wonderful spoon (or do you have it stashed away?)

Great design, been on my wish list forever, it appears in Rainwater's 'American Spoons' (1969), they show up every once in a while - a dealer I know emailed me his auction listing, since he knew I wanted one, but it was while I was caring for Mom and didn't see it until too late...

Just a silly find for me, have been adding a few silver charms to my collection, have been collecting them since I was a teenager, used to keep them on a holder pendant, then a bracelet (heavy and awkward, always catching on stuff), working on a cluster necklace now, and ran across this relatively new but cute one. My surname includes 'Wink', and my nicknames have included 'Wink', 'Winky-dink', 'Winkle-binkle', etc. (my ex had a 'Dink' in his surname, used to tell people we met at 'Last Names Anonymous') - so this silver collector could hardly resist a winking silver teapot...

I love the glaze on this. It looks just like an archaic bronze vessel. (to my eyes)

Sorry took a while longer to get back to this than I expected, here’s the marks. Not sure about the date letter and the SJ I thought might be Samuel Jacob but the mark is rounded not rectangular like the one shown on 925-1000. 36373101-DD70-4869-9A6E-76EF05228873.jpeg

My two grabs of the day. The vase is a tall piece of Westmoreland Glass, complete with their mark on the bottom. It's a blue-ish green. The other bit is a sparkly pendant that came on a 14k white gold chain. The pendant doesn't have any marks, but the stones aren't glass. Not diamonds either, more's the pity. White sapphire maybe. No idea what the metal is. I found this and a 14k bracelet for $10 each. The chain and bracelet are both headed straight to scrap (zero design value and modern). DSCF5160.JPG DSCF5161.JPG

Another lucky auction win, I got all these coins with more on the way. I found a holed queen Victoria sixpence for one of my silver pocket watch chains too.
