Hello everyone, I'm new here! I picked up this piece at an estate sale. I have it hanging on a wall but no one (myself included) knows where it might have come from. As you'll see, there's an area where hardware once was; I'm guessing some sort of latch. One person thought it might have been a cover for a Victrola -- that makes sense but the rectangular shape doesn't feel quite right. The approximate dimensions are 26 inches by 14 inches.

I just thought it was something interesting to think about. I'm going to keep it even if I can't figure out its origins -- I really like the way it looks.

    Thanks!

It would be good to show all sides of it, how "finished" is the other side?

Sorry I don't have a picture of the back but it's all smooth and finished on all sides.

Welcome, Grady! I've taken the liberty of reposting your photograph as Full Image so it's easy for all to see.

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

Are those kind of curved edges around the piece of main interest?? Wasn't sure how else to describe it.....

It looks like an architectural carving. What are the holes in the side of the frame?
