Long Knotted Black Cords with One Chinese Character Each

Hello Board Friends! Another box lot purchase that has me completely flummoxed! It appears to be made of cotton. Total length is over 5 feet each. The Chinese symbols are made iof brass. Does not anyone know what they signify or when they would be displayed? Any help is much appreciated. Thank you very much!

Thes are good luck charms to be hung in the home or workplace. Longevity, good luck, the usual.

every chinese new year, he would bring them out to polish and hang on the wall. ours did not have any special framing, just the words like in the link. he used fishing line to string them up in vertical line i have no idea where they are now .......
