The contrast between the carving & the upholstery is great. This could have been Norman Bates' mother's chair.

You guys/gals are quite humorous. However, I haven't got the chair home yet to sit in and bicker while drinking a nice glass of scotch or bourbon.

I will be here much more often I think!

Now to only find more about it and get a quote to refinish it.

Yeah, tell you what, i just bought a leather "paris club chair" new, kinda gave up on a 1920s model because i need the chair NOW! company is comin, grand kids, cranky young adults, etc, THE HOLIDAYS!
For $220, i think you did well, a leather art deco club chair from early 1900s goes for thousands if in good condition.

    Karpen club or parlor chair:

I think Bronwen got your chair, Karpen club chair or in the style of, is it marked anywhere?
Description by seller " art deco 1910-15 in mahogany. Produced by Karpen out of Chicago". They had it recovered in leather & were asking $1750 for the chair.

Yep, agrees, where is Brad & ghopper? This era of furniture is more in their wheel house.

I am waiting on some quotes to refinish it and fix up the wear on the wood, we'll see what areas wantr price wise. I like the fabric over leather though I think. The problem with leather and living in Pheonix is I feel as if I'll stick to the chair a lot if wearing shorts.

The chair is mine, but I will pick it up later today as I didn't have room in my car for it last night.

If there's one thing those carved arms are not, it's art deco. Not even really nouveau. Think now you need this one:
