Johnnycb09, I really "like" your finds (but I don't "like" that you are having a "leg issue"). :(

The covered (lidded) jar with the (pine?) cones and needles is especially appealing to me. ;)

The pain was worth the gain, Johnny! Although doing without the pain would have been better.

    Hi Johnny,
Getting old and "crippled" is not for the weak. Only us old people know that.

Take it from someone who hobbled around using a cane for almost 9 months & even gave in to using the grocery scooters a few times towards the end, if anyone says anything flip them off so that you leave no doubt it was meant for them. :p:p:p:p

You should also make an appointment with your doctor to get it checked out ASAP. If it is something vascular that is definitely nothing to fool around with & if it is arthritis you may be able to treat it with some anti-inflammatory meds or possibly some injections. Believe me you can feel better but you have to make the first move.

Great finds everyone! No auctions this weekend but I did purchase a derby glass at a thrift shop today.

Today was church, so all I found was some coffee and pastry and Panera leftover bread. Unless you count a blind buy on Ebay this morning. Cost $4.25 including shipping, otherwise I wouldn't have bid on a no-picture might as well have no description auction. Now to see what I get!

We were at a brocante/vide grenier on Sunday. There was a stall with loads of little bits on, mostly metal. The stall holder, whom we have seen before was very chatty. He bragged about being the resident "expert" in the local edition of a national newspaper. He produced a folder with cuttings of his articles. As he was bragging about his expertise we bought something which we haggled from 25 euros to 20. It is a pair of silver sugar nips. The ones shaped like scissors. Very rococco. The handles had obvous marks on. We found we had bought a pair of nips about 1700 with Reims marks on. I kept saying, as we walked away 'I can't believe an expert sold us them for 20 euros" I have found, over the years, that the experts I admire, are very modest. I regarded them as experts, but they did not regard themselves as such. Have you generally found that the people you regarded as very good in their field were quite modest?

As usual I had no intention to go on a European-made cookware spree, it just happened.

A bunch of Pillivuyt (France) gratin bowls,
A metallic scoop made by Wilesco (Germany),
    Vintage Skyline eggbeater (England),
Practically pristine copper escargot pan by Culinox (Switzerland),
A swedish funnel, wooden spoon and what I think is a tool for removing fish scales.

I had to tell myself not to buy several other items, some of them possibly antique. Maybe if they're still there next time...

Ok so now that I have them all, can anyone suggest a specific reference (book or website) for looking these up?
