I've learned so much here by looking at the posts of various pieces. In this case, though, I just liked these earrings, so I bought them even though they were large and heavy - 3/4 inch long and 1.2oz. I was going to ask you about them, so I started to inspect them carefully so I could report. The first thing I noticed was the "Sterling" on the edge. I got excited. I saw another mark partially hidden under the clip, which I couldn't read. So frustrating. Then when I was ready to give up, I noticed a stamp on the clip. I could clearly see the copyright symbol and Stephen, but the rest was worn off. I tried different photos and lights. When that didn't help, I went on the web and typed in Stephen jewelry. In the middle of the page was Stephen Dweck https://stephendweck.com/ Maker of fine jewelry using natural stones. I went back and looked again and I think that is the maker's name on my earrings. Am I right? Since he uses natural stone that is carved, what stone do you think this is.
You have made my day by confirming! I got them at an event, where they were overlooked by more seasoned people probably because they are clip. Thank you.
This pair sold on Ruby Lane have a darker stone. Described as "large brown citrine color carved smoky quartz and sterling silver earrings." Debora
Now this is interesting because on his website, he claims only to use "gemstone that Nature created." Maybe the seller, since they are not jewelers according to their report, thought it must be molded glass.
Clearly carved to my , not molded glass, it seems he used India carved stones, same style of carving.
These are a bit different, but I believe Realreal authenticates. https://www.therealreal.com/product...blet-floral-clip-on-earrings-7hpmu?position=1
This, I believe, is the listing on eBay, that VintageonSixth, mentioned: https://www.ebay.com/itm/STEPHEN-DW...=true&nordt=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557
Thanks for this information. I thought glass before I picked them quickly up. Lots of resellers about at the event. I’m still trying to get some yellow stuff out before I post a cleaned up photo but they have a opalescent sheen.
It seems they sell them like hot cakes there. There are none exactly like mine on this site but it gives me a sense of the value in the resell market. They are for my ears though.
$11.75!!! I need to come shopping with you! Think the seller on WP was mistaken in his description, as Dweck only works with "natural" stones. If you're looking for his signature jewelry, you can find better prices through Neiman Marcus than on the Dweck website. We had a wonderful little shop here in town that used to carry his things. Got some great pieces there, including a necklace that was so heavy it cracked my front tooth when I leaned over and it smacked me in the kisser.
