    Okay question has anyone run across the Mark JAPAN SILVER on jewelry before?

    I've seen info on it, but can't find it anymore.
    If I remember correctly 'silver' was a mid-century Japanese mark for silver of a lower fineness than .950. If so, this could be .800 - .925 (sterling) silver.
    Later Japanese silver has full hallmarks, including the fineness in 'Arabic' (Latin) numerals.
    Maybe @DragonflyWink knows more.

    Japanese rock crystal, circa 1950s, fineness will almost certainly be .925 or better ('SILVER JAPAN' can also be found accompanied by '950'). These are rather modest, some pieces are quite large, and can also be found with reverse-carved pagodas, butterflies, etc. - the same mark can also be found on the findings on Arita 'Noh mask' jewelry of the same era...
