I found this unusual blouse at the store today. I'm trying to collect vintage clothing so it stood out to me. The buttons are cloth. I'm not sure if it was handmade or if there was once a liner. No tags. The fabric along the seams is tabbed. There are shoulder pads. 20171030_203344.jpg 20171030_203359.jpg 20171030_203317.jpg 20171030_203214.jpg 20171030_203206.jpg Any idea of the age?

Pretty sure this is hand/home made. The style and fabric is reminiscent of the 1980's Amadeus look, popularized by the 1984 movie.

I was going to say home/hand made, 1980's, too, but only because I used a very similar fabric in the 80's to made a table runner! Those colors were pretty big in home decor at that time.

Haha, it makes a rather hideous blouse. I don't know if anyone will want to buy it, but for $1 I couldn't resist it.

Screams 1980s. Think Lady Di. Fortunately the matching skirt/dress didn't survive.

Laura Ashley-ish and Gunne Sax out of San Francisco. They made tons of floral/edwardian/peasant prom wear... Some of it approaching yves st laurent's Russian inspired designs.

But sorry, you lost me at pale pastel :)

Very 80s. In the early 80s I had an Italian linen jacket with a similar design in ochres, olive green and dark reds. Pale pastels were never for me.
It had giant shoulder pads too. Top brand, can't remember which. I was so petite that I could buy Italian fashions off the mannequins for peanuts, it wouldn't fit any 'normal' Dutch woman.
I never understood why the Italian brands in The Netherlands would fill their showrooms and shop windows with clothes and shoes that were an unrealistic size here. One of the mysteries of life, but it worked for me at the time.:)

It "almost" reminds me of a (fancy) "bed jacket" from way back when ladies "convalesced" and received guests at the same time. ;)

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

Maybe a good Halloween costume for somebody at this point? Although older things, including some from 1980s, are trendy for younger people -- I don't think that this style is one of those. :)

Yes, the 80's. Needed those shoulder pads to balance out the big hair styles.

I must have been living the 80s in an alternative universe. I don't remember anything quasi-Victorian being the look then. (Tight jeans worn with high heels & leg warmers, yes.) Does look hand sewn. Maybe mom made as a little cover up for going home from the prom? Think I've seen lawn furniture upholstered in a similar print, but the way young women are layering pieces these days, this might have a place again.

I remember girls wearing 19th century style lace collars even on thick woollen sweaters. You could buy the collars separately and sew them on your shirt, sweater, t-shirt, etc.

Someone my parents' age gave me what I assume are hand crocheted lacy looking collars, not sure when but could have been 80s, & I wondered what I was supposed to do with them. Probably still at the bottom of a drawer somewhere.

I inherited a walk-in closet full of 80's high end clothing. Ungaro, Christian Dior, Chanel, Escada, Chloe just to name a few. Everything from business suits to black tie to night club attire. No floral patterns at all. The wildest thing is a multi colored ski jacket.

Like Any Jewelry, she was tiny and short. Everything has an 18" or 19" waist and shoulder pads. One suit still had the original price tag in the pocket from Neiman Marcus, it was marked down from $2400 to $1800, a bargain :p. I tried listing a few pieces but even with petite/tiny in the title there were no takers. How many people have an 18" or 19" waist?

There ought to be a marketplace for movie props. There probably is. I know a couple of them existed, but I wasn't into that at the time so I don't recall what they were. Those folks scour sites like Ebay looking for period pieces. I'd go on a hunt for one of those sites.
