Probably the most famous southern heart pine cupboards are those built by house joiners from 1730 to the end of the 18th century & belongs to a large group of furniture from the southern portion of Virginia’s Eastern Shore.
Corner cupboard painted in blue/green, orange-red, and white hues; twelve-light door in upper section encloses three shelves; paneled door with three raised panels above two larger panels encloses one shelf; upper and lower sections separated by heavy molding; broken pilasters on side sections.

Do you know off a website that goes into detail on southern built furniture?

I have what I *think* might be a sewing table from possibly a southern state (Kentucky?) But its based solely on skimming book pages and not yet looking the table over very closely..

It came from the same house as this piece.
Im going to clean it up today for pictures and use

Website no, there isn't one. The "bible" of early southern furniture is

I have always lusted after one of those virginia eastern shore corner cupboards but, considering 50k for unrestored, that's a romance that ain't gonna happen. Most of them were painted originally because they are built out of heart pine although i have seen a few that were unpainted & built from walnut. Whenever one comes up for sale, the bidding is very spirited with deep pocket collectors.

That's a great looking cupboard with nice "curb appeal". Other than the minor repair on the skirt, it looks like a nice original piece to me. It appears to have a one-board bottom which would help date it.

Yep is, which is why it's 19th century, back in the day when heart pine was dirt cheap & plentiful. It's incredibly strong and stable because of the tight growth rings, so strong it was used for structural building elements on commercial structures.
