Side Table

    How would you describe this? And what would you thing it is worth?

    It's the base of a (1930s?) treadle sewing machine that someone has stuck a marble looking top on.

    It could have been done any time up to yesterday.

    It's an old treadle sewing machine base. Hartford would have been the manufacturer. I wasn't able to find the manufacture in a quick search.

    Many of these old machines were taken off the tables in the 70s and later. Marble or other tops put on to make occasional tables.

    On the link I gave above, I wonder if the Hartford machine was also the Weed maachine???

    Sewing machine bases like this can be picked up for $15.00 or so in these parts. Can't tell if the top is wood or marble from the pics. If just painted wood, it doesn't add much value. If marble, maybe $75.00 or so for the combination. I sometimes see these priced higher in shops and they do sell eventually. They sell better and for more money with the sewing machine drawers attached.

    Hi Petar,
    Congratulations on the sale! I bet it had to do with the Hartford name, I see Singers going for 25 to 30.
