I am looking to age a piece of furniture

Discussion in 'Furniture' started by Christopher Young, Oct 29, 2017.

  1. I am looking to find the age of an antique hand carved rocking chair that has dragons for arm rests and something like a North winds type figure carved in the back piece. I has no name or company tag on it

I am looking for clear crisp pictures , showing us the arms , the underside and the chair front and back.

  3. It won't let me post pictures. Keeps saying file is too large to upload

    Hi Christoper! Welcome.

If you're using your phone, send them to yourself, and edit on your pc. That's what I do.

I don't know how to edit them on the phone....someone else might know tho.

Yep. It originally had a very dark varnish on it.
At this point, as much as I hate to say it, I think I would paint it. Trying to get the rest of the color off and then re-staining; the chair isn't going to look at all near original.

    Time period 1890 - 1910.

Adding examples of Green Man chairs:

  11. So it's worthless?

Notice I added a link to my previous post.

Wait for @verybrad and the other furniture people to comment

I'm guessing American made, but wait for Brad to confirm.
