How to discover an artists name with initials or style

    Hello,
I am hoping someone will recognize either the initials or style of this pastel/chalk painting - or would you say drawing?
There is an M Z in the right bottom corner.
The name Beckstrom is penciled on the back. There is a partial word/name prior to Beckstrom. (see picture)

The pastel is in very good shape. I removed it from an old frame and glass. The picture was tight to the glass and you can see chalk on the glass. (The picture is now in a protective clear sleeve.)
I have done the usual research and have come up with nothing for M Z nor Beckstrom. This is an old picture and may never have been copied (prints). Hopefully I have uploaded the pictures correctly.
    Thanks! full2.jpg sig2.jpg sig2.jpg back2.jpg frame1.jpg path2.jpg frame3.jpg frame2.jpg tree3.jpg

komokwa The Truth is out there...!

It's a nice enough painting....but surely you realize that there are 4 billion paintings out there, so it would help if you could tell us more....
    Where RU ?
Where did U get it...& how long ago.
have you shown it on other sites.

    thank you

ps. unless it's a known artist or style from a particular location....it may never be discovered..

It was purchased last week in the Twin Cities, MN area.
It has not been shown on any other site.
As to never identifying the artist, you have that right. I am downsizing a large collection and there are many with unreadable signatures and those with only a first name etc. The hope is/was that someone might recognize the initials and or style.

Maybe owned by a Mrs. Beckstrom. It must have been cropped at some time I'd characterize this as a Sunday painter and not anyone famous enough to have had prints made. It's not really high quality enough, although decent for an amateur.

    Thanks all for comments.
No, not cropped. The top of the picture shows the chalk drawing ending before the edge of the board.
Seeing it in person gives a different view. It has a lot of depth.

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

I think the idea of it being cut down comes from the cutting off of whatever the word is before "Beckstrom" on the back. (Possibly Mrs., as Bev mentioned.)

Possibly a reused canvas because no one would write half a name.

The frame appears to be from the first quarter of the 20th century. I agree, something has been cut down.
