Hello! I just bought a house that included several unique pieces of furniture. I am completely clueless as to their origins and, honestly, to the world of antiques in general. I would love to be educated. Could you guys share your thoughts on this armoire? Thank you!!

Possibly french, possibly 1880s or so,and very nice. Some close ups of construction would help. Im no expert though,so wait for others to chime in.

I think French but more like teens-20s. Very nice!

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

Beautiful... and that was in the house you bought? What a deal!

    And, welcome to Antiquers!

Thank you for your input and kind words! It's a massive piece. I hope I can find an appropriate use for it.

You can store much in it. Doesn’t have to be clothes.
You could get nice little bins to put in it to store whatever.
I found great clear ones with snap lids and handles. These nest into each other. Got them at WalMart.
    They have light green trim.
I use them in my chest freezer so I can lift them out and not just have a pile of stuff in there.
    Work great! :)

I'm heading to IKEA this afternoon for storage bins. The doors are pretty squeaky. I'm going to have to work on that. Any ideas on what it's worth?

I'd suggest you clean the hinges then use silicone spray minimally. (NOT WD-40)
Then keep after any runs on the wood until they stop.
Also, at the auto parts store you can get a tiny tube of white powder ;) that is a lubricant as well. It's made for car door locks.
    Wipe off excess.

I've no clue on value. Did you say where you are? This is important.
Tell us and see what others state.
    I'll guess 3-600$.
Not all that many folks want these though this one looks special.

Thank you for that advice. I would have grabbed the WD-40 for sure!

I'm in Collierville, TN. (Memphis area)

WD-40 has very little lubricant in it.
It works for some things but not long lasting.
    Note: WD means Water Dispersant.
40 is the number of the formula that worked and produced the desired results. :)

I am in the Midwest (semi-rural IL) and the $300-600.00 value seems about right to me. Could see this priced even higher in a nice big city shop.
