Featured Is this an Edwardian corner chair?

Hello Antiquers,

Could anyone help me to try identify the age and style of this chair?

I would like to buy it but I am not entirely sure of what I would be buying (no expert) and nor does the seller. Only thing I know is someone put a very ugly zebra pattern on it. View attachment 287134 View attachment 287135

It looks like an oriental corner chair, not sure how old it is. Not enough photographs of the underside, the joints, the back.

Do the legs on this one look like the legs on yours?

Yep, that's the era, just pre WW1.

 

Oops. My mistake.

 

Not exactly but close I would say, I also looked at other models from the period and it seems to fit. Just could not find one with the same type of top.

Added a picture of the back. Will get one of the bottom as soon as possible.

 

At least I am starting to get some of these right! Just have to make sure to burn the zebra print when I get it.

 

People make odd choices when it comes to upholstery.

My mother always said no one likes anyone else's wallpaper, same can be said about upholstery

I think it's a very pretty chair, has elements of Art Nouveau design. Appears to be mahogany wood. I would put it at 1900 to 1910. On further look, I don't think it's oriental in make or style.

 

I agree. Jugendstil/Art Nouveau imo.
