    Hello
As promised I am showing the end result of having this little bug cleaned. The stones are cabochon rubies, emeralds of natural origin and rose cut diamonds. The gold is 15ct. I think it has cleaned up beautifully. Very happy  20201030_170753.jpg 20201030_170835.jpg 20201030_170859.jpg 20201030_170926.jpg 20201030_171011.jpg 20201030_170926.jpg 20201030_171026.jpg

They've done a lovely job without removing the age of it. WHat did they charge as a matter of interest?

Just under AUD 200 but the valuation was very detailed. I was impressed by the amount of detail in fact.

I think that's pretty reasonable. It would have taken quite some time.

Yes it did. He really appreciated the workmanship and how long it would have taken someone to make. My gem man is a very elderly Polish guy who has a passion for well made pieces. He is also so knowledgeable. Whenever I go to see him we end up chatting for a couple of hours and he brings out all sorts of pieces to show me the difference in quality etc. So nice to find someone like that in these times when everyone is always so busy

Woah, Tracey, your gem man is a true GEM!:woot:
Great work both in description and cleaning, and chating with such a knowledgeable person, willing to share and teach the differences in quality and jewellery construction is the best way to learn!:)

It certainly has! I would guess Indian emeralds, with that blueish tinge.
When you get your UV torch, shine it on the rubies. If they light up like demon's eyes they are likely to be Burmese. (dark closet - demon eyes -)
Wonderful! The world needs more people like him.

Yeah. Sometimes I do feel guilty when I spend so much time with him but I truly believe he really enjoys sharing his knowledge. And of course I always ask a zillion questions :shy::shy::shy:

I am sure he does. And he probably also enjoys that you have an interest in his passion for jewellery and take the time to listen.

@Any Jewelry see the pic I have included which he took under uv light. Do the eyes look like demon eyes to you :dead: 20201030_193623.jpg

No, not bright enough and the wrong shade of red. The emeralds are indeed more likely Indian than Colombian. Colombian emeralds fluoresce more red.

These are Burmese rubies (Aussie white opal in the centre):

Oh yeah. They are definitely demon eyes. I'm just staggered at how much knowledge you have around all of this. Is it knowledge built up over many years?:rolleyes::rolleyes:
