Featured Cameo Brooch

    Hi,

    I have got this beautiful cameo brooch. Would like to know more detail please?

    As I have seen before cameo but all wasn't like this. I dont know this one more worth it or not.     Tagging @Bronwen our cameo expert.

    To my non-expert eye, based on the texture of the back, it is a fairly recent piece. I suspect the cameo is molded rather than carved, maybe resin to imitate lava. I see lots of burst bubbles especially when I zoom in on her face and hair.

    I agree, except that from the back I'd guess more 1970s than 2000s for the date. She's definitely resin trying to be lava.

    You guys nailed it & didn't need me at all. Can't tell for sure, but may have been made in 2 molded pieces & assembled, & the mold may have been taken from a vintage carved piece as she is a type seen in 19th century cameos, not an invention from the time of her making.

    She's not anyone in particular, but you can think of her as Flora.
