    komokwa The Truth is out there...!

    i believe I've seen only one other like it in 30 years.
    i bought it years ago as a Haida Argillite carving done during the cold war when the US Military was cutting roads in Alaska for the early warning system

    While it is military in nature, and carved by hand...I think it's just an average piece of slate & not Argillite from Haida Gwaii.

    Does the number, or uniform, mean anything to anyone ?

    Military Police and that rectangle above his left breast pocket is probably supposed to be a 'rifleman' badge or pin. I'd guess he/they commissioned this from locals.
    Probably lost in an unpaid/unclaimed storage unit or given up by family when he passed. :(

    It's a long shot to see if the Company would have an idea where this came from,as it could have been made for a retired member .....but it's a shot worth taking , and more than I had 24 hours ago !!

    Note that had he been Navy or Marines he would've been 'Shore Patrol'.
