You've seen this in Another Place. It's been on my gloating shelf for a while, but it's now off to auction. Nicely signed Christopher Dresser vase that cost me a whole one pound anf fifty pence!

From your gloating shelf, to this board's gloating thread. Nice!

Here, let me adjust the image so all can see how wonderful that piece is...

Here's a very nicely carved Chinese Republic Period (1930s) boxwood(?) Manchu figure. I love his facial expression...

image.jpg image.jpg My wife and I stopped at a local small ma and pa thrift store here in Oklahoma. I was looking at their art prints and noticed a painting tucked behind a bunch of junk. I seen that it had ducks in the painting. I maneuvered the junk around to get to the painting. I realized it was a original oilpainting. I could make out the last name of Basset but didn't know the first. I did a quick search on my phone for "Bassett Duck Paintings". To my surprise, the first listing showed a painting by Reveau. I then knew that was the first name I couldn't make out. He was an artist from Texas, very well acclaimed artist at that. A painting from him was sold at Christies. This painting was only $6!! The listing had a painting from him that was sold at auction for $1,250. I couldn't get the money out of my pocket any faster. I hate that I got it at such a steal, but my thinking is, if you're selling it, do a little research.

    I just seen where a 10 x 8 painting from Reveau sold for nearly $6k in 2006. Mine is a 10 x 8.

You guys are my idols. I wouldn't know cherry amber if it bit me on the butt. Worse than having to play 52 pick up with beads is when it happens in the antique store-been there, done that, old cotton threads. The frog and turtle vases are amazing. Here is a something that is not jewelry that I found at an outdoor antique show, Miss Revlon 18" clone outfit, rare brunette, "beauty mark" on her chin:

Okay, now jewelry. I love these unconventional circa 1980s Anne Klein earrings. I think they are supposed to be the goddess of the harvest Ceres/Demeter- note the profiles face a scythe:

image.jpg image.jpg I also found these ads in my search today. One is an ad for Coca-Cola from 1952 and the other is a Wrigleys gum ad from 1927.

I used to live on Coca Cola and Hershey bars. Did me in, but I'm loving the poster. I vote creepy on the masks, but everybody has a different view... perhaps unique is a better word. :)

And wow on the stick pin!!! I wonder what the origin of this design is. Do you know what the mark on the left of your design is?

Not to gloat, but I must, did you see my biggest find today? It's a painting from Reveau Bassett. That was a GREAT find, only $6.

Must forgive my gloating. It's just I haven't ran across something like this. The week has been stellar on finds. I'm just soaking it in because it will probably be a long time before I come across values like this again.

Those masks look like 3 of the 4 seasons. I think it's the eyes (or lack thereof) that weirds people out.

I wonder if the earrings and stick pin might be based on an ancient coin.

    Thank you!

Lol! It's all good. At least now I know exactly what it is. Cool piece you have there. Looks Italian to me, but I could be wrong. Love the pin. Looks to be signed/marked with a 'PL' monogram.

@Armando, you picked a winner. Great job!

    @Marko, very nice earrings!

@Sharona, yes very realistic, I love it!

@komokwa, agreed. There was a small string attached from the pipe to his hip pouch, but it disintegrated on touch.

The lot below cost $115... :D

Vintage 1960s/70s James Brown-like jumpsuit with rhinestones, small mirrors, the works! It's very heavy and very well made.

An entire peanut butter jar filled with raw amber (not sure why someone collected this).

    2 vintage glass perfume bottles.

Antique or vintage hand blown glass bottle in the shape of a violin.

Small lot of vintage "costume jewelry". There's a number of pieces of 10K & 14K gold, sterling and a believe a damaged platinum chain. Vintage Trifari chain, bracelet and earring set. Vintage Peru sterling and 18K gold pendant brooch. Sterling Chinese earrings and another piece, not sure what it is. Antique Mexican silver earrings. Austrian brooch and earring set. etc. etc.. etc...
