    Hope someone who actually knows something will advise you, but many years ago I bought, for just a few dollars each from a Chinese seller, a couple of stone & 'silver' ornaments. The stone looked very much like this. It was, of course, represented as jade, but I came to believe it was actually dyed agate.

    Natural jade can have those colour variations, but I think in this case Mother nature has had a bit of help.

    The concept of jade in Chinese culture is different from ours. To them it is a 'noble' stone, which stands for certain character traits. Other 'noble' stones can be called jade by the Chinese.
    Of course unscrupulous sellers will call anything jade, there is even a lot of (Peking) glass listed as jade.
