Knights Templar Sword?

    I have a sword I just picked up and it looks like it has the Red Cross that most knights Templar items have but I'm not certain. It has KGL on the sword and the end of the handle has an eagle. Any idea of the exact organization this is, and maybe the age.

    The shape looks like a cross between a spada da lato and a rapier. It is probably based on a 16th-17th century sword.
