Featured Carnelian ring repaired?

    The band is stamped 9ct- is this likely to be a repair as the rest is silver?
    Does the style of the ring date it?

    1920-something to 1930-something would be my guess. The band may be the original; who'd repair a sterling ring with gold? Carnelian was a preferred stone of the Deco era, especially earlier on.

    Typially 20s into 30s. The back of the band would be gold, the front silver . I've some which are marked 9ct SIL or GOLD SIL.

    No, just as it was made. Gold is more durable, silver showed the stone better.

    And there was a preference for white precious metal, like silver, white gold and platinum.
