I was wondering if anyone could tell me anything about this. All I was told is that it is from South America and that it is a blow dart with the spears and a knife. Also what kind of value would this set be? Any info would be great.

Yes they are and there are other pieces they used like teeth or bone for other parts of the decorations on the handles.

    Interesting.

Hopefully, they found the Toucan bills, and not the alternative.

Just a bit of background about this amazing bird species.

There are at least 40 different Toucan types, identified by their bills, which can be black, green, yellow, orange, or a combination of colors.

Channel-billed toucans have black bills, and are trapped for the pet trade and hunted for food. The IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature) has now classified it as "vulnerable," since there has been a more than 30% decline in the population in the last 20 years.

The arrows may be authentic, but the rest looks very suspect to me, like some artist's creation. Much of the decoration looks like it is made of polymer clay.

I agree about it looking like an artist's creation, and the polymer clay. But I have to admit, it does look pretty cool.

Well the people we bought it from said they got it from Brazil and that it was real animal parts and all. If it was an just an artist's creation there is no signature.

It is , just an artists creation.....maybe even a one off !

Those are not killing weapons or hunting tools..

( but...artwork like that shows talent...so maybe they have done other works ..)

I can't tell clearly from the photos, but are the parts that look like polymer clay actually painted leather? The part that looks the most like clay are the three fingers looking bit on the bottom of the beak. What is that part actually made of? If all that polymer clay looking stuff is leatherwork, that's kind of amazing.

They look kinda like cast polymer replicas - the ridge on top just doesn't look like a real beak - looks more like a strengthening rib to keep the (cast) bill in shape so it doesn't distort over time.

All I can add is TRAMONTINA is a Brazilian cookware and cutlery manufacturer. I'm pretty sure your piece is a tourist souvenir. The only part made by tramontina would be the blade. I would be curious if the people that brought it back were missionaries. Stuff like this would normally be found in the Northern Part of Brazil in the Amazon areas.
