I'm looking for information on this old stained glass image of John. I was told English 1880s. Any way to tell if this may be from a particular studio? Or can you glean anything else from these photos?

    The realism is pretty spectacular!

I don't think you'll have a problem selling it at all, especially putting it in front of a large audience like ebay

That second one on the other hand has taken on a whole new meaning in the last few decades. It used to be a First Communion image. Now... oh dear.

Just wanted to bump this with new photos to see if I could find more information, specific or general. I'd like to know if it's possible to determine the makers or factory of this piece or others by examining the details. Or is this piece so late into the industrial period that it could be anyone?

If someone here has a good path of exploration into this subject I've always wanted to delve into stained glass. I've studied some of the cathedral glass and find the alchemical connections fascinating, but I'm looking to gain a little more knowledge of the pieces more accessible to our trade.

The information that came with it was St. Peters Church, Twickenham. I don't think that is right. There is a St. Peters very close by in the next town Petersham and there are several old churches in Twickenham.
Anyway I've enjoyed having this in the window, but every time I look at it I want to know where it used to be.

It looks more like John the Baptist getting his head whacked off for Salome than Peter. Tradition says Peter was crucified upside-down.

yes clearly John, but said to have come from St. Peter's Church.

There is a St. James Church in Twickenham built in 1883 and was said to have had stained glass donated from the last king of Portugal. Be interested to know if this could be Portuguese.

But what about ST PETER IN CHAINS?

The Apostle Peter was jailed in Jerusalem, shackled in an iron chain for preaching about Jesus. The night before his trial, St. Peter was said to have been released from the chain by an angel and led out of the prison.

Maybe he's not getting beheaded, but rather, rescued?

    (Honestly, I have no clue!)
