I rent an 8000 sq ft warehouse I call “The Hoarditorium” which is similar to what you mention.

Huh- too expensive a solution for me...............I just tossed Dad into a home and took over his bedroom/dressing room/sitting room...............Ta Da! immediate expansion space............great for the collection, bad for the reputation.............and every even numbered year when I went to visit him I had to listen to the "you don't love me" stuff............Well - I loved him enough to get him out of the danger of falling boxes, didn't I????

Some people are just never happy...............

Yep, that has been in the back of my mind for the last year. Just don't know how I can afford it. I keep thinking maybe I'll win the lottery. Only problem is you have to buy a ticket for a chance at losing.

    There really is no point....
I would just fill it up and then need a third place ;)

    Hi,
A quick synopsis. Lived in a second floor brown stone in Brooklyn 12 ft ceilings, two fireplaces a study etc. Moved into a small 450 sq ft condo in Brooklyn, filled the place to the ceiling. Bought a 1905 farmhouse in Jersey, full walk up attic, full basement. 3 bedrooms glassed in solarium. Dining room Separate two car garage with full attic storage. Lot was 150 ft by 325 ft. Movers could not understand how the stuff from the condo filled the house and garage. They did not know about the stuff in the storage area and common patio area. Anyway it was fine for a while, then I got old and no more stairs so no 3 storey house. Moved to the Jersey shore and small house 2 bedroom 2 bath, living room, dining room and family room one car garage. Always had large yard sales twice a year. The last year I had a third which included 2/3s of the house. Would have purchased another house to hold all of the stuff I sold if I could have afforded it.

Forget the house, buy a warehouse and get it over with? People with more acreage than sense sometimes buy old semi trailers or school busses. They have the advantage of putting your storage on wheels if you ever need to move.

    Hi,
When I was a kid we had a huge barn. It was the best place to play and dream especially when raining. When I was 8 or 9 it was decided to tear down the barn.
While the guys were tearing it down they killed over 200 Copperhead snakes. They were everywhere, I was so amazed that they lived in the barn with us and never saw them. Perhaps since it was Oct they were coming in to find a place to hibernate.

Ha! I'm originally from Kansas City and have heard about the Nolls. Small world.

We can't afford another house, but we're pretty much bought up (always room for 1 more.....ha ha), so when we get something new something old has to go. We've been pretty good about keeping the clutter controlled.

But I do know of 2 people who have bought second houses for their collections. One in particular is furnished with antiques just as if somebody lives there...but nobody does. Kind of weird.

I've gotten majorly out of hand.(LOL) On the other hand, most of what I buy is jewelry, so you can cram a lot in a relatively small space. And most of it's for sale...eventually....

Here are a couple views of The Hoarditorium taken today. This is the neatest it has ever been! I spent the day putting away all the little hoardations that weren’t neatly stored. Why? Tonite is the calm before the storm. Tomorrow a 53-foot semi-trailer arrives that’s “double stacked” with the last major “buy” for the Hoarditorium, basically I had to make space so we’d have places to put the truckload while we process it for use and storage. I hope to get photos of the space after all the stuff is inside but before we start opening the crates, because it quickly gets very messy looking with cut stretch-wrap, strapping, crate lids, etc. Wish us luck unloading, the truck driver called ahead to warn us the load was double-stacked and to ask if we had the right heavy equipment to unload the trailer. We do, unless they surprise me with something totally unexpected.
