Featured Silver tarnish protection, any ideas?

    Yep, and I'm used to finding solutions. I do the same running around when I am working with some of those smelly felt tip pens.:)

    Hi "Any Jewelry"! Glad to be here on the forum.
    I agree that there should be caution in storing in plastic if not totally clean, wrapped in acid free tissue paper, and properly handled. I know that when I was "young" I received a 12 place setting of Old Master with all serving pieces and each piece was sealed in plastic. Fortunately/Unfortunately 35 years later I still have several pieces unsealed from back then and they are still perfect from lack of air exposure. Thus the manufacturers even sealed in high grade plastic.

    so the chalk acts as a drying agent? Like rice in a salt shaker??

    Yes it does LibraryLady! Chalk is calcium carbonate which slowly absorbs moisture from the air. This in turn slows down and can help to eliminate tarnish. It is good for smaller enclosed storage areas in the case of silver otherwise you would have to have a ton of chalk in a room! :)
