It's possible, Evelyb30. Only a few frog and turtle vases have come up for sale in the past decade or so, but I've seen nothing on the monkey vase. No auction records, other pieces in museum collections, nothing! Only what's mentioned about it in that American porcelain reference book.

Some recent finds. First, cherry amber bakelite. The center beads are pretty darned big. It looks like cherry amber, but sniff tests and weighs like bakelite. No chemicals needed, just a thumb. I restrung it after finding it; the cotton string it was on was threatening to turn a necklace into a game of 52 pickup.

Found this in my fabric hoard, er stash, this afternoon during the snowstorm. Not that it's unusual. Her name is Thelma, Da Former FatKat. Her twin is Louise Queen of Lemmeout.

Thank you and you are most welcome. Some of the best Japanese cloisonné you can get are the Ando pieces. Use Google images to memorize what his mark(s) look like. Pretty EZ.

I guess no one liked or saw any "profit" in what I call this AF/Davey lot:

MONEY LOT 001-001.JPG MONEY LOT 002-001.JPG MONEY LOT 003-001.JPG MONEY LOT 004-001.JPG

I'm sure I'll be able to make my money back plus profit just off that vintage sterling Gucci piece. There was also a gold brooch and I believe that military piece is gold as well. Raw silver ore, old Roman (Licinius I?) coin and a bag full of other old coins that I know nothing about.

That looks a tasty lot for a coin and note person like me. US collectors might be a bit sniffy about the US Note $5 because of the condition but I'd buy it. The coins might be promising if they were easier to see what they are. No way of losing money in that lot anyway.

Do you go shopping with a gun and a mask?

    Lol!

With my gun (FN 5.7), but no mask. Besides, I don't have to stick folks up when they're already giving this stuff away for pennies on the dollar. ;)

I'll post some close-up images of the coins a bit later. Have to get back to the in-laws down stairs. Was able to steal a minute or two.

image.jpg I posted a thread about these but I've found out more information to post them on this thread.

Two electroplated copper on glass art pieces. They are done by an acclaimed artist out of Ft. Smith, AR. I lived there for about 17 years. I found these on a recent visit to see my in-laws. My mom had left boxes of junk at her old house before she moved across the country. Some vandals broke in the house and stole a few things, mainly copper wiring and metal. Thank goodness they didn't touch anything else.

I didn't know who the artist of these pieces was until I looked him up. I contacted a person,Jim, who is in charge of selling Johns prints. I was informed that John had passed away in 2013. Most of his original works are in private collections, art galleries and museums. I was informed that John didn't use his hands, due to a disability, he used his teeth to hold the brush. Wow!! That's truly amazing and very talented.

I was given Johns wife's email address. Upon requesting some info on these pieces, she told me that John had made these when he worked at the glass manufacture company. These were done when he still had use of his hands. The glass company is no longer in business and was told that these were one of kind and the value would be very high. If you look up John Bell Jr. artist in Ft. Smith, AR, you can read his biography. I don't plan on selling these two.

These are about 14 inches in diameter.

UPDATE: Both pieces are valued at about $3,000 a piece.

image.jpg This is for anyone who's into military collections. This is an old WWI era cloth military bandolier. Still has original ammunition in each pocket. I had done some remodeling work for a guy and he gave it to me because he just had it laying around and I told him I liked it.

    Look familiar?

One of my close friends was in the US Army. This was on his Drill Sergent hat. I don't know if it is specific to just Drill Sergents or not.

Thank you! I like it much better than the other one

I'd be betting on Hong Kong on the ship painting. It's the sort of decorative arts pieces they were selling back in the 60s. I kind of like the Jesus print better, but it's classic 50s Dali, or looks like 50s anyway. It ought to be hanging in that cathedral Frank Lloyd Wright did out in Sedona.

The ship appears to be a small junk rigged ketch at anchor in a flat calm, but the relationship of the sails to masts looks a bit wrong. Given the rig, Hong Kong is a likely as anywhere.

    Thanks Sharona!

I'm not sure if "rarer" as the American porcelain book writer described translates to being the most valuable, but I sure as heck hope so. I personally like the decorated pieces better, but so far, this undecorated monkey piece appears to be the only known example.......................at least from what I've been able to gather.

This one: http://www.liveauctioneers.com/item/5251665 sold for $1.6K, and I saw a pair that sold for $2K+ a few years ago.

Nice Dali piece. I found this for you: http://www.cfmgallery.com/Salvador-Dali/pages/Heaven/Heaven1.htm not sure if you've seen that as of yet?

Probably right on Hong Kong just thinking Asian. The sails do look off....
Thanks Nuff I saw several examples (not that) with several different prices, guessing that is dependent on whether it is signed by him or not since he did little of the work
