African Rag Doll?

    Got this at an estate sale... it's about 8" tall. I'm doubting that it's very old because of the metallic bits in the fabric and the beads, and also the yarn hair is glued to the head. The inside is pillow-y. But it does look very worn. Any thoughts?

    Very sweet.:) Probably not African, but African American or even Native American.

    I'm sorry that I can't offer any information, other than to say that it appears to have been made by a home crafter. Perhaps someone can offer their opinion by the beads she wears.

    Could be Czech micro beads, which are still used.

    True. I used to order them in the US, that was cheaper than from Czechoslovakia or anwhere else in Europe, even though I am closer to Czechoslovakia. Boggles the mind, doesn't it?

    I have something similar that I will post tomorrow but she doesn't have the beads. She's very beautiful!!

    @Betty Boop , yours is much nicer but I just found this one the other day with some others that I could just imagine a simpler time kids played with simpler toys

    That is what I was thinking of. Most NA nations of the Southeast had slaves, or freed slaves who became members of the nation. That is why there are so many African Americans with SE Native ancestry, and sometimes recognized tribal affiliation.
