Oriental plate japanese? Storks

  1. Hi all,
Hope everyone is doing well. Trying to figure out this cute plate. Is this a good mark or a spurious one? I've looked thru Gotheborg but didn't see any thing close.

Don't know about the mark, but I see cranes and chrysanthemums which would both mean Japanese to me. The underside is very interesting - like a lily pad with it's stem curled.

Now of course I could be wrong. JMHO.

    But I like it!

No reason not to think it's the real (IMHO late 19th c) deal -- Japanese rather than Chinese, I think, because of the cranes. I like it, too!

Great piece! Similiar one pops up on Google under " Antique 19th Century Japanese Satsuma Enamel Painted Lily Pad Plate " Like yours, but with a cricket, butterfly and other bugs. Links to an old Ebay auction, but I couldn't get to the auction. Any tricks to see old auctions?
